May updates from the Missionary in Virginia...

Week of May 5,  "I'm staying in Kempsville and am teaching with Elder Shelley.  We found some solid investigators the other day that are ready for baptism.  Its amazing the blessing that we are getting by doing what the Lord wants."
Week of May 12,  "Things are going great over here.  We are going to have a thunder storm here and the wind is picking up.  It was good to hear from all of you on Sunday (Mothers Day).  We did find another family that we are going to go see in a couple of day.  Our Bishop said that we need to find families.  We have found 3 in the past 2 weeks.  The Lord is really putting people into our paths.  Hope everything goes well at home."
Week of May 18th,  "The rain storms in Utah are nothing like the ones here.  You stand outside for like 30 sec and your completely soaked from head to toe.  Its so much fun riding bikes in the rain.  We taught a cool couple the other day.  They are in their 30's I think.   We are teaching Jon and Sally, they are doing great.
Notes:  We appreciate the love and support that is going Kalam's way.  He says HI to everyone...feels bad that he doesn't have time to write everyone.  He love you all and and says thanks for all your doing.

Weston's new adventures...in Arkansas!

Weston can now be found in Arkansas.  He has taken a job there that will bring him new adventures.  He doesn't live too far from my brother Jeff that is stationed there.  We love Weston and miss him very much.  We wish much success in Arkansas.  Take care Bud...

State Track at BYU May 14th...

This Medley Relay took place at the State Track the first day May 14th.  Derrek ran a PR (personal record) of 53:04.  Unfortunately the boys were disqualified because of the handoff between the first two boys.  It was sad because the boys all had PR's and shaved off 6 seconds from the best time before.  In a Medley...it goes like this...The first two runners run a 200, the third (Derrek) runs a 400, and then the last runner runs a 800.  Still very proud of Derrek and all he has accomplished.

State Track at BYU...May 15th

4x400 Relay Race was ran by Jens Christensen, Hayden Oliver, Derrek and Chase Holt.  They came in 4th with a time of 3:39.  As a team, they had a team record.  Way to go Derrek...we are very proud of you!

Teach Tolerance...???

This very PINK house Sam came across while in Arkansas to a school for his job.  He was there for the first two weeks of May...you can only imagine...

Tim turns 15 years old...

HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY TIM!!!
Can't believe that your 15 yrs old...Tim has already taken his drivers test...and...PASSED.  Now all he has to do is the driving hours...please pray for his Dad and Mom...just kidding...he actually does pretty good as long as no cats try to cross the road!
Handstand contest...   can you guess which sexy legs belong to the birthday boy?
The boys did tricks off the diving board, some went down the slide, and played some basketball.
Enjoying some Pizza and Fat Boy ice cream    sandwiches after their swim.  We had invited more boys...but being a busy Saturday, we were glad to have the ones that showed up.  HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY TIM!!!

Learning to become Rock Hounds!

Our family spent a day with Grandpa Dean and Grandma Susan learning to become Rock Hounds.  It was fun as we watched the "professionals" show us how.
Our purpose for this stop, was to find Apache tear drops (Black Obsidian).  In our hands is all our treasures we found!
Just one of the many finds we discovered.  The quote of the day, "Oh...pretty...did ya spit on it?"
We had a great time with Grandpa and Grandma looking for rocks.
As we were headed to Topaz Mountain ... we heard this thump thump ... thump thump ... and you guessed it, we had a very flat tire.  Several vehicles stopped to assist us, but Grandpa and Sam had it ALL under control.  One lady even offered a drink.  What nice people these rock hounds are!
Oh...what do you do when your very bored and waiting for the flat tire on the truck being repaired...you make Dirt Angels.  Now how original is that!  Tim... what would we do without you.
Tim over looking from a distance.
Don't ya think that Derrek makes a great Supervisor over our little dilemma?
Grandpa Dean and Sam putting the spare tire on the truck.  Notice ... Grandma Susan in the back looking diligently for yet ... more rocks!
